The PCA SKIN brightening brunch

An elegant morning of learning, creativity and connection unfolded recently at Brewed in Scarborough as Kahuna Skin & Aesthetic Clinic partnered with PCA SKIN for an intimate brand event. Hosted by PCA SKIN Brand Manager Lizzie and Kahuna Clinic Owner Lauren, the gathering brought together skincare professionals and enthusiasts to explore the synergy of science and botanicals — with a hands-on twist that included cocktailing ingredients, in-depth product knowledge and a floral-arranging session using botanicals discussed during the event.

A space that suited the occasion Brewed’s light-filled, stylish space provided the perfect backdrop. Guests were welcomed with refreshments and a warm introduction from Lauren, who set the tone by emphasising Kahuna’s commitment to evidence-based aesthetic care delivered with an appreciation for nature’s bounty.

Lizzie led the presentation on PCA SKIN’s philosophy: rigorous science underpinning advanced formulations, with botanicals selected for evidence-backed efficacy and tolerability. The talk covered:

  • The role of actives such as peptides, antioxidants and retinoids in skin health.

  • How botanical extracts can complement clinical ingredients — for example, botanicals that soothe inflammation, support barrier function or provide antioxidant protection.

  • Formulation considerations: concentration, stability, delivery systems and avoiding ingredient interactions that reduce efficacy.

Attendees appreciated Lizzie’s practical examples from PCA SKIN ranges, demonstrating how targeted serums and creams can be combined safely and effectively with botanical extracts for enhanced results without compromising skin tolerance. Questions from the floor sparked thoughtful discussion around tailoring routines for sensitivity, pigmentation, ageing and environmental stress.

A highlight of the morning was the “cocktailing” station, where guests experimented with layering PCA SKIN products and botanically inspired boosters under professional guidance. The team demonstrated best-practice sequencing and how small adjustments can personalise treatments:

  • How to layer lightweight serums with hydrating essences.

  • Which calming botanicals to introduce for reactive or sensitised skin.

  • Practical tips for combining antioxidant boosters with daily SPF for daytime potency.

This interactive portion reinforced the message that intelligent blending — grounded in formulation science — enables bespoke routines that respect both efficacy and skin comfort.

To close the event, attendees moved from tabletop formulations to tangible botanicals in a floral-arranging workshop. Using many of the herbs and flowers discussed during the presentation, guests learned simple floristry techniques while reflecting on each plant’s role in skincare:

  • Chamomile and calendula for soothing properties.

  • Lavender for calming benefits.

  • Rosemary and certain leaves for antioxidant and antimicrobial associations.

The activity emphasised sensory connection to the ingredients that inspire cosmetic science. Guests left with their own arrangements as a reminder of the natural sources behind modern formulations and the idea that beauty care can be both clinical and sensorial.

Community, education and mindful practice The event achieved what Lauren and Lizzie set out to create: a space that combined professional education with hands-on experiences and creative expression. Attendees left better informed about PCA SKIN’s evidence-led approach and more.
